Lean Mobility Inc. (Head Office: Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture; CEO: Akihiro Yanaka; hereinafter “our company”) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with China Motor Corporation (CMC), a prominent Taiwanese automobile manufacturer (Head Office: Yangmei District, Taoyuan City, Taiwan; Chairperson: Yen Chen, Li Lien; President: Chao – Wen Chen; hereinafter “CMC”), on October 23, 2024, to contract the assembly of Lean3. This MOU marks a significant leap forward in the mass production of our urban compact EV, the RideRoid “Lean3,” strengthening our framework for both the 2025 Taiwan market launch and global expansion. This agreement is one of the critical strategies enabled by our recent ¥4.6 billion fundraising.
Production Readiness and Role of Both Companies for Lean3
Lean Mobility:
- Body and component design with an emphasis on productivity and cost efficiency
- Development of sophisticated exterior and interior designs, performance optimization,
and optimal component layout
- Establishment of a supply chain for parts provision, including sourcing, parts development,
production, quality management, and logistics
China Motor Corporation (CMC):
- High-quality and efficient assembly and inspection
Since its establishment in 1969, CMC has led Taiwan’s automotive industry with experience and expertise in both its own two- and four-wheeler brands, as well as contract manufacturing for major global automakers, including Japanese brands. Through this partnership, our company aims to not only lead in design and development as a hardware startup but also to overcome the hurdles toward mass production, advancing towards delivering practical and innovative urban mobility solutions.
About the EV RideRoid “Lean3”
The Lean3 is approximately one-third the size of a passenger car, with seating for two and support for ISO-standard child seats in the rear. It features a cabin for protection against the elements and air conditioning. The newly adapted Active Lean System, suited to the front-steering configuration, continuously estimates vehicle posture using a G-gyro sensor, dynamically controlling the left and right suspension during cornering to tilt the vehicle body at optimal angles, ensuring both stability and an exhilarating driving experience.
Combining compact, highly functional cabin features with robotic posture control and advanced automotive technology, this new category of mobility—the RideRoid—aims to revolutionize transportation efficiency and offer eco-friendly convenience and creativity for everyday life.
