The average four passenger car carries an average of only 1.3 passengers. This physical redundancy of vehicles is one of the factors contributing to issues of urban transportation such as traffic congestion, parking, and CO2 emissions. As a fundamental solution to these challenges, Lean Mobility aims to downsize the vehicle to create an efficient, environmentally- and people-friendly urban transportation system.
productRideRoid, developed from the ground up, takes you on a city journey.
Lean Mobility has developed a new category of compact urban EVs named RideRoid. Its first model, Lean3, features a two-seater*, full-viewing passenger cabin equipped with an air conditioner, while being approximately one third the size of a passenger car**. The state-of-the-art sensing and control technologies create a safe and invigorating driving experience. Its lean body with less environmental impact facilitates more casual detours and communication with surrounding people, bringing both convenience and a richer experience to urban dwellers.
Active Lean Technology controls the suspension and steering to optimize the lean of the vehicle while moving. It provides a stable ride and an invigorating cornering experience even while making turns or driving on rough surfaces despite the compact vehicle size.

OurJourney
- 2022Lean Mobility was established.
Lean Mobility was founded by Akihiro Yanaka following his career at Toyota Motor Corporation. Various specialists in the transportation business successively joined the company.
- 2024It raised 2.8 billion yen in funding as a Japan-Taiwan alliance and started preparing for mass production.
The company raised a large amount of funding as a startup based on a partnership between Japanese and Taiwanese businesses. A production system for mass production is under development through extensive cooperation with a number of companies in Japan and abroad. The company is further accelerating its business activities, including product development, mass production, and sales preparation.
- 2025It will spur its development toward a product launch in 2025 with the goal of producing more than 50,000 vehicles.
There is a large demand for mobility that is not met by existing products, such as redundancy and maneuverability in automobiles and safety and comfort in motorcycles. Thus, the potential market is expected to amount to approximately six million vehicles.
Starting with its launch in Taiwan, the company is looking to expand into the Japanese and European markets. The goal is to produce more than 50,000 vehicles by the fifth year.
